About Utah County Decks

A note from Justin Bliss about how we plan, price, and build decks for Utah County homeowners.

From Justin Bliss

Hi, I'm Justin. If you're here, you're probably trying to figure out what your backyard could become.

I own Utah County Decks under Clover Creek Home Designs. Most people who call me are not looking for a flashy sales pitch. They are trying to solve a real problem at home. The old deck is wearing out. The stairs feel sketchy. The backyard has a great view but nowhere comfortable to sit. Or the house needs a deck that finally makes the yard usable.

My job is to listen, look at the property, and help you make a smart plan. Sometimes that means a full new composite deck. Sometimes it means repair, resurfacing, better railing, shade, or removing an old structure before rebuilding it the right way. I would rather tell you the honest option than sell you a project that does not make sense.

When we talk through your deck, I am looking at more than the surface boards. I care about how the deck connects to the house, where the stairs land, how the sun hits the space, what the railing does to the view, how the framing will hold up, and whether the finished project will still feel good years from now.

I want you to understand the choices before you spend money. Trex, TimberTech, railing styles, shade structures, trim details, repair versus replacement, permits, access, and budget all matter. You do not need to know all of that before you call. That is what I help sort out.

I start with the property

The grade, access, doors, drainage, sun, snow, privacy, and traffic flow all matter before we talk about colors and finishes.

I explain the options plainly

If a repair makes sense, I will say so. If replacement is the better move, I will explain why. No pressure, no mystery scope.

I care about the finished feel

The goal is a deck that looks like it belongs on your home and feels solid every time you step outside.

How I want the process to feel

You should know what is being recommended and why.

A deck is a big enough project that you should not feel rushed or talked around. I want you to be able to point at the plan and understand the layout, the material choices, the railing, the stairs, the shade options, and what is included in the estimate.

If the project is simple, we can keep it simple. If the property needs more planning because of height, slope, views, or an older structure, we will slow down and get those details right. That is how you avoid surprises and end up with a deck that actually gets used.
