Trex material guide

Trex works best when the color, line, and finish are chosen together.

Trex is a strong low-maintenance decking option for many Utah County homes, but the best result comes from comparing the whole deck package: board line, color, railing, fascia, borders, stair finish, heat exposure, and how the deck connects to the house.

Choosing a Trex line

Start with the way the deck will be used.

A deck used for barefoot afternoons, kids, pets, and west-facing sun may call for different color and heat decisions than a shaded dining deck. A higher-end home may benefit from a richer board line and a sharper railing system. A practical family deck may need the cleanest value line that still holds up and looks finished.

Trex color samples are useful, but they should be compared beside railing, trim, fascia, house color, and shade plans. The same board can feel very different on an elevated deck, a covered deck, a hot tub surround, or a simple backyard platform.

For service-intent planning, see the Trex and composite deck builder page. For cost and material tradeoffs, read the composite decking cost guide.
